This has not crossed my mind since finding out that the wife was pregnant, now that it's been 5 months after giving birth am wondering whether she should have a check.
Some advice from the ladies would be good, as I don't have a clue Last edited by slark01; 23-05-07 at 10:35 AM. Reason: Hate cancer had 4 family members die from it |

A reminder like this is always a good idea. Best wishes to your friend.
It may also be an idea for the guys out there to be vigilant as well as testicular cancer is also a factor. Just ask Lance Armstrong! |

Thanks guys and girls - the smear test is particularly uncomfortable but can save your life - the test is only every three years until you reach the menopause then its every 5 years.
in the states they test every year but is considered to be a bit over zealous over here!!! My friend is understanably in bits as you can imagine xxx |

That is really tragic, I hope you pass on my thoughts to her. As a cancer researcher I see more that my fair share of this and it is always very very sad. I want to also remind people to use condoms as protection with strangers rather than just the pill, as Human Papilloma Virus is very highly associated with causing cervical cancer (HPV causes genital warts usually).
Stay safe everyone, and my best luck sent you your friend Tara. |

Actually I believe it depends on the doctor's surgery and what county you are in. Some counties say 4 years, some say 5 years.

Would also like to point out that a magical Chinese mushroom called Ling Zhi (Ganoderma lucidum) is highly effective against cancer without any side effect. Because it is an alternative herb medicine (herb classification), you'll not hear that from the GPs. Dispite all the medical evidance in the far east and at the US, the most potent Ganoderma lucidum available can only be labelled food supplement which can not state its medical usage as a result of red tapes surranding the drug, drug trail etc. Do a search on the net, tell your friend about it, and if you want more information on where you can get those mushroom pills, PM me. |
