Not sure if I can offer any help but my Z750 has got an aftermarket pipe which means the pair (or whatever they call it) system clicks. Anyway it clicks worse in the rain, no idea what causing it but I am guessing that this is something to do with the mositure in the air. Not sure now much help this is but there we go.

Welcome to Kwak land.

Yeah, from everything I have read, thay say that the first 250 - 300 miles is when the engine beds in, so it does go through quite a lot of change in that time.

I would just check that there is the correct amount of oil in it - I do every time I go out.

Welcome to Kwak land.
this is standard, no clicking, but yeah it could be to do with the temp. Like i say no clicking ot tapping, just an agressive raspy throaty roar from under the tank and out the pipes.

I am hoping it meant to sound like this then, probably being a bit paranoid as its my first new bike and an IL4 after a V-Twin

Basically mate where you went over the rev limit when running in you have damaged the bores and that barking sound is the noise of the pistons grinding against them.

Ha I bet you will be worrying now!

I haven't heard of a barking noise before but I expect it just sounds like a bog standard Kawasaki and the noise is in your head! They are known for cam chain noise though.

Definitely keep an eye on the oil but none of my bikes have used oil during the first 600 miles and neither have they made a different noise.

I guarantee there is nothing wrong with your bike.
