None at all, as always, and just the way I like it. (Although I might have to 'work from home' dec 25th, as we have no flights or fire cover).
Freezing cold, no shops open, pubs heaving - why would you want time off this time of year?

Sorry Ed, not directed at you personally.
Not taken personally.

Fact is that if everyone wants all their time off in the summer, it's impossible to run the business. Not just mine, applies to any business. Question is - who manages what - if your team are managing you, then something is very wrong.

Could you not just have a stricter summer leave policy? Like a minimum of 3 months notice for anything more than 3 days off in a row, or no more than two staff absent at once? In my last job the place would shut down over christmas, it was a nightmare trying to organise everything.

Ditto. Not fussed about it.

Nice idea but unworkable in practice, because everyone always says on Thursday or Friday 'I've found a late deal to go to [wherever] and so I'd like next week off please'.

Neither of Sarah and Rebecca have kids, so they generally don't ask for time off in school holidays, and in fact prefer not to go when all the kids are off. Makes it a bit easier as we have a 9yo, so we're stuck with high prices and crowds

I use xmas, as time to be with my family and friends, I find its the one time of year that a lot of people make the effort to get togther, when I get togther with my cousions there about 12-14 of us last count, I'm the oldest so we tend to find ways to annoy the rest of family

Long as I had xmas day off, I didn't mind, but I would like more leave just have a break really, its been busy and stressful the past few months.

....yeah I'm the same about leave in winter as well, I much prefer having time off in the summer.
