If the 1200S had a better back seat and provision for at least a top box I would have one. A gorgeous looking BMW. That does not happen very often. (ok new HP2 is even better).

Think you might be surprised how many are actually up for sale 2nd hand and how relatively cheap they are going for.

Still would never sound as good as a big V tho'!

You cheeky beggars!

Go back to your sore backs from hugging your petrol tanks on a motorway.

You're only jealous that top-boxes make the sv look ghey! Whilst a GS can pull it off nicely.

You're not wrong there. Safeway used to import an Alaskan smoked beer (about 7.5% alcohol iirc) which was absolutely fantastic. Then Morrisons took them over and stopped doing it. They were sole importer and you can't get it anywhere over here now. I was most upset.

Sorry, completely off-topic.

Yep, the R1200GS is a LOVERLY bike.

I took one out for a test ride last year and almost purchased one (shame about the price!).

I made better progress down a dual carage way on the GS that I did on my speed triple. The thing has so much more visability (mirrors, higher up, etc) and so much torque that overtaking was a whole lot easier without getting into high revs and lots of power. Look, squirt and go.

It was also no slouch going down the race track (which is very close to the catherham bypass) at a very good lick (easily the same as I would do on any sports bike, or my speed triple)

Also, from 30mph they will power wheelie in 2nd, without any effot.

Loverly bike, 11/10. I might have one, one day.

Dan

since when is discussing libation off topic

One place I stayed while I was out there was a mile down the road from a local microbrewery called The Silver Gulch - every friday and saturday night you could get 1 hour in the tasting room for $5 - then stagger over the road to the Howlin Dog Saloon

The lads on the bike wing at work have just taken delivery of these;

To say they are a bit chuffed is a REAL understatement! Lovely bike with huge road presence.

The thing about the GS- and this is the worst part- is that it's a FANTASTIC bike. Breaks my heart to see them in the hands of monkeys. Last trackday I did, there was a guy out on a big red tractor complete with big metal mule sidecases, he went round the outside of me about 3 times AND he had a heated seat.
