Default A bit Like Zoolander.

...Except I cant turn right, fell off again turning right at about 5-10 mph, but this time with R&G bungs.

First time (right hand 5-10 mph) without Bungs Damage = Exhaust dent, brake peg bent, brake lever scraped, fork scraped, bar end bent scraped and busted ankle.

Second time with R&G Bungs Damage = Exhaust dent + scrape full length, brake peg snaped (probably with help from previous fall), brake lever scraped, bar end scraped, Mirror scraped, and headlight + screen scraped and a knackered crash bung.

I may be wrong but the concluding result for me so far is crash bungs give me the extra room to get out from under the bike

Thanks for listening although a bit pointless
Ste

Nah, the bung is saving the engine casings and the radiator (which is over 350 quid), so they are well worth the money. You've saved yourself 350 quid at least by fitting them. You're just lucky the rad didn't get smacked the first time, it's usually one of the first things to hit the deck.

Yup my rad was fairly conclusively ragged in bits. Try finding a decent one from breakers

You're travelling at 5-10mph (so i'm guessing pretty much upright) and drop the bike?

I would imagine a crash bung isn't going to save much in this scenario. People stick crash bungs on their bikes and expect miracles, but if your bike drops from vertical to horizontal then one little piece of plastic isn't going to save everything!

I think crash bungs are most effective in lowside situations where the bike is already lent over and doesn't drop too hard onto the bung. They are there to take the slide rather than the impact IMO.

That's my (thankfully fairly limited) experience of crash bungs. They actually get more bent out of shape (and hence allow more of the bike to touch the deck) when the bike falls onto them, rather than in a lowside, even if the latter is at much higher speed.

Gutted, perhaps get some more training done

Slow handling is CBT stuff

Dunno about it being CBT stuff, I've had a couple of "ohh fk fk gravel/diesel/etc (delete as appropriate) wheel sliding, foot down moments"
Actual slow control is more like the falling over at a standstill, which are more amusing and tend to only break brake levers and stuff.

Edit: that said, more training never hurts.

Yeah but we are talking here about doing 5mph turning out of a junction or car park etc. Not slipping on diesel or gravel.

In my CBT I had to ride figures of 8 between 5 - 10mph.

Follow an instructor whilst draggin the rear brake at sub 5mph.

U turn (to the right obviously)

Amongst other slow stuff.

Its all CBT stuff, if you couldnt do it, you didnt pass......at least thats how it was when I did mine.

This above is in no way a personal dig at the original poster by the way, to get your license you have done it all before. Therefore some top up training after a winter break or just in general may help is all I was trying to say.
