Default Good old Boris. Who's going to abide by the drink ban on the tube?

I for one am not. I can't see that stopping me having a couple of loosen up cans on my way into town for a night out is going to solve anything. What about the drunk people coming home on the tube? Can anyone get that drunk on a tube train? I'd like to know others thoughts on this. I'd like to know how it'll be enforced too. If you can sit on a train next to a stinking tramp, someone eating a smelly kebab, kids effing and jeffing and sometimes smoking, why can't you have your favourite tipple on the way in or out? Surely unsocial behaivour is unsocial behaivour?! What happened to those fellas wearing the red berets? I think they should give a can of beer to everyone on the start of a journey on the tube. Maybe it'd get us all talking a bit more.

Discuss please.

I can't comply, I've got to have a couple in the morning before I get to work, otherwise I might realise I don't like it.

Sorry Boris, you fail.

Have to disagree with you there Monkey-boy.

The ban not really aimed at you, but at the people travelling in groups, being loud and intimidating to other travellers.

But as the ban is there, YOU should respect it.

Its like cyclists running red lights, nothing to worry about if you ar a cyclist, but annoying as hell if you are a bystander.

I also agree that the kebab crowd should ALSO be banned.

The tube is a piece of public transport and people SHOULD behave better, that means no MP3 players up so loud that the person next to you can hear it, no eating of food, and no drinking of alcohol.

This should ALSO apply to the buses and where applicable, tubes.

Who should enforce it?

British Transport Police, thats who.

There should be random patrols, with the power to confiscate open bottles/cans/kebabs/burgers, and be able to issue fines and kick you out of the station/bus.

These steps are needed to bring this aspect of society BACK into line, unfortunately it seems that something like this would be required as people have no consideration for others.

If somone doesn't want to be around people who are drinking they should be able to chose that by not going into pubs/clubs, they should not have to also worry about it on the tube.

As for people who are already drunk getting onto the transport system, well as long as they behave, then thats fine, of not - well thats what drunk and disorderly charges/fines are for.

Dont like it?

Then walk.

I agree to some of what SK is saying about " Tubes being part of public transport" however stopping Kebabs on the train etc... that's just a bit too much. My concern is the impression on younger generations watching people drink and accepting this as "Normal Behaviour", arent we a nation of Binge drinkers already???

If you want a drink then fine just hang on for 20-40 minutes until you get off the train, if your caught drinking on the train then a £20 fine by the conductor or British Transport Police should be a minimum and also pouring the drink down the nearest drain.

Will the drink ban on the tube cut down on viilence/intimidation/harassement from youth??? I doubt it very much. Is this ban to put Boris in the media, well you don't have to be a genius to work that one out do ya?

Eating smelly food IS still antisocial.

Its a shame that we now need to use the law to enforce behaviour that should not happen if people had more respect for others, rather than it all being about ME, My Rights etc.

I would prefer it if people didnt drink; im nervous about people who've had a few, and if someone is drinking, you don;t know how many they've had. So i'm always worried they might be drunk and confrontational.

As for food....yea. stick to sandwiches and non-smelly stuff. but i dont mind if it smells nice

MP3 players; I cant hear my own MP3 player, let alone anyone elses

And lozzo, you make me laugh mate!

Matt
