Default Uh-Oh....

....my Brothers Samsung D900 accidentally got washed in the washing machine earlier...

Scenrio:
My Mum saw a glowing object in the washing machine and was wondering what it was and called me over, and I realised it was his phone

"oh my god, turn it off! its his phone!"
mum: "what?!"
me: "mum, turn the machine off!"
*turns it off*
*waits for the door to unlock so we can open it*
me: "oh my god its dead"
mum: "oh my god what an idiot!"

So! Does anyone know how I can get the screen off so that I can get the water out? Its just swirling around at the moment and doesnt seem to show any sings of evaporating/leaking out..

Ive dismantled it as much as I can and left all the parts in my room to dry. I also blasted it with a hairdryer (not sure if that was a good idea but anyhoo)

Thanks guys and girls

Maria

Get some electrical contact cleaner and blast it. Hit it with a large hammer to allow th water to run out

take the battery out & all other removable parts etc....leave it somewhere warm to dry out (at least over night) i.e. Airing cupboard.

Put all the bits back in it, turn on & cross fingers!

um, why are you stressing about it? He was dumb enough to leave it in there - it's his problem*!

* (unless, of course, you and your mother are being paid huge amounts to do his washing, the contract for which includes emptying his pockets for him. In which case, I'm with Gid on this one)

Afraid not..

Update on phone: leaving it in the airing cupboard on kitchen roll seems to be working. The screen seems to have less water in it

No, but you can try sticking the phone and a dehumidifier inside a bin bag, seal it with duct or gaffa tape and leave it there for a couple of days (with the dehumidifier turned on, of course ).
