There are basic seagoing qualifications you`d need and if you don`t fancy going to college you can pay and do the courses yourself. Will find out what they are.

Alot of people dont mind it.......the money is rather impressive and the people your on shift with become like an extended family.

My uncle was a Director at BP Grangemouth and now works in the Northsea in complete charge of one of Talismans biggest rigs 3 weeks on 3 weeks off, loves every minute of it, stupidly well off as well.

Still cant get on the rigs myself though

Indeed, each to their own, but to me, physically not being able to get away from people/the boat/surroundings if I so chose would be hell on earth!!

you couldn't give me enough money to cage me in a can for weeks on end like that!!

Have just spoken to my son and he reckons the company are desperate for staff of all ranks. He says it would be worth emailing or ringing them as they might be so desperate that they`d put you thru the relevant training courses.

PS: obv don`t tell them that you know they`re quite desperate!
