I don't think bike handling is a problem for him. He was riding competitive motocross as a kid, rs125 at 17, test at 17 and then R6 for 4 years.

Mummy has lots of money to waste on her pride and joy, and if he wants he gets.

Yes, I am jealous. Like all of you, I had to earn in order to spend. Begrudged having to buy second hand when others would be treated by mummy/daddy. But I look back and think at least I have done it off my own back. Mummys little soldier just winds me up, in that he seems to get the toys without earning them. I doubt he will ever learn the value, and will one day get a very rude awakening.

I agree Tim but you say that she has lots to waste on her pride and joy. Maybe having such funds allows her to treat her son in this way in the same way that maybe others would get a 7th hand banger for their 18th. I know I was lucky enough to be treated to a car when I passed my test (to keep me off 2 wheels)

It's impossible to say that unless you have experienced both sides. I was rarely on the receiving end of state of the art stuff when I was growing up but has that made me a better person? How do I know?

The other side of the coin.... a very good fiend of mine was from a wealthy family and got pretty much anything he wanted. Does that make him a worse person than me? Hell no! He is one of the nicest, most down to earth people you will EVER meet.

It might not be the R6 but it sounds like he probably smashed one up during the hospital incident?

Now I'm just going off Tim's view, but he sounds like he doesn't appreciate what he's got (see also smashing his car up 3 times?) which is what would annoy me. If he has lots of toys but appreciates he was given them, and lots of people aren't, that's fair enough. Can't really tell from one viewpoint I guess.

I am sure that was one of the car incidents??

Not mentioned he crashed a bike. He has ovr 4 years riding experiance on the road and going on what tim said more off road. That IMO makes him far more capable and experianced than a hell of a lot of people on this site, me incuded.

Hang on, how will he get insurance on that?!

same as i did on my 675, he'll have a few years ncb behind him by the sound of it, and will have rang various insurers and got quotes, i had quotes of over 1k for my 675 (got it down to 800), if people have got the money they will take the quote.
got a guy ive gotto call back today-new rc8-quotes are 1.5k and hes seriously on about taking the qoute out with us.

Also how do you KNOW that hes not bought it/paying for it???, mum could just be the person whose has put the loan in her name (like my dads done with my 675) and then he pays her back whatever it is a month.

Tim has talked of this lads experience on bikes, not one of us knows how capable he is (except maybe Tim). He could be the next Rossi, or he could be absolutely terrible

I like to think I'm perfectly capable, (others may disagree! ) but I only have 3 years experience of riding. Conversely, there are some people that have been riding for 20 years but are still terrible. Extreme example, but I'm making a point!

But I agree with neio, that there does seem a little bit of jealously from some. At the end of the day, if I knew my parents had had the funds and they bought me an R1 at eighteen, I wouldn't have said no!

I'd love an R1. thing is, you'd never really use the engine to its full potential on the road, thats what puts me off big thou's

I want an RC45. Thing is my bank account never has enough money to realise its full potential capacity, thats what puts me off big boys bikes

When i was 17, i was given the keys to my dads Peugot Speedfight 100

I'm not concerned for his safety - lots of people buy large bikes when they are young and are fine with it. I do wonder though if he would appreciate it as much as if he had to save and buy it himself.
