SV650.org - SV650 & Gladius 650 Forum

Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).
There's also a "U" rating so please respect this. Newbies can also say "hello" here too.

Default Why is the .org such a (usually) friendly place?

I've recently got rid of my SV and bought a ZX-7R, but I'm staying put here because of all my friends, particularly in the TVSF. I've signed up to redmokey.com which is the ZXR owners forum and my god, there are some real morons posting. Yes, there is some very handy technical info and I'm sure pleanty of the people on it are cool, but the general vibe on the site is just terrible. I did the usual thing of introducing myself in the general section and not one person has bothered to say hello so far. They are all too busy being really offensive to each other (there is no swear filter) and just sl*gging each others respective countries off. It seriously reminded me of a bunch of little kids. I know we get the odd tiff on here but generally the vibe is pretty chilled and accepting. SO....

Is it the sort of people who choose to ride an SV that makes this site such a nice place? What do you lot think? Maybe people who wouldn't be seen dead on an SV are a little insecure and feel the need to criticise others - just playing devils advocate here??? google it and take a look at some of the threads - I really couldn't believe it!

I'm so glad I found .org cos I think if I'd have found one of these other forums first, i'd never have bothered going back.

Phil

I agree Hun, Org is great. It's certainly the friendliest and nicest site we've been on, that's why we're not leaving. Our mates are here.

We have joined a Ducati site, and to be fair, it's also friendly. I think those who did the Rutland Ring rideout would agree that the Ducatisti guys and gal who joined us were a nice bunch.

That being said, we will still probably do most of our riding with Org, both day trips and weekends away

It is unusually friendly for a bike forum. I think it is because of the type of bike the sv is.

I disagree there.

I bought the SV for a simple reason. Finances. That's the sole reason I was looking at getting a bigger bike anyhow.

As for why the .Org is a nice place, well, sods law. If everywhere else is terrible, there has to be somewhere for the decent folk to gravitate towards.

I like coming here, but I also like going here.

One place is nice and polite and civilised and the other is frankly rather rude!

I like to switch between them as the day passes.so I get my fix of polite, caring chat on the SV site and then I pop over to the other for my Filth.

I love you SV650.org, you bring sanity into my life...

No it's not the sole reason but I think it definitely influences it. You don't get many of the power ranger speed freaks on here

I'll happily sit in the minority then. Love riding more powerful bikes than the SV, and always looking for something with a bit more grunt at the right price.
