Hmmm...having a good look around the net now...too many seeds of doubt. Looks like I need a new camera!! SmartMedia is a tad out of date - the card seems to be a slightly different thickness as well as the notch issue. Think I'll bin the purchase from amazon for now until I've done some 'hands on' research.

This is the one...

There's an earlier post in this thread with the photo frame and this card on the link...

The picture frame you linked to takes SD cards, which is what you also linked to. SmartMedia is a different kettle of fish.

The picture frame you were looking at won't work with SmartMedia.

You're out of luck, I'm afraid. Wikipedia says, "SmartMedia memory cards are no longer manufactured, and there have been no new devices designed for use with SmartMedia for many years now".

Nearly all recent digital cameras use some form of SD (Secure Digital) card, though a few use XD, Compact Flash or Memory Stick.

Even my memory stick uses microSD.

smartmedia is old and as said in a previous post no longer made...

regardless .... the device spec states
Memory cards supported Secure Digital (SD), Multimedia Card (MMC), MEMORY STICK (MS), XD-Picture Card (xD)

all easily got on the net for a few quid...

check out 7dayshop.com ... but be careful...

the site will take many of your engleesh pounds as its got all sorts of goodies...

hmmm....7dayshop. Cheers chaps. I saw that bit in Wiki...it just confirmed something that I was desperately tring to ignore (denial). I need a new camera that uses current media. The picture frames were to be a gift for the old 'uns. Trouble is we'll have to make sure that they're technology is also up to date...

No you don't

Ok so you take pics with camera, transfer them to PC, edit as required and then upload them to the digital frame. The fact the frame and camera use different media doesn't matter. The idea is you can get a frame, buy extra frame cards so have different piccy sets on them.

Buy extra frame cards....and then there was light!!!

That'll do the job.

I knew that the smart media wouldn't work in the frame. I just wondered if the SD would work in my camera.

Scenario - buy frame with SD. On xmas day take pics with camera - put disk in frame and give as gift....but it wouldn't work because my camera won't take the SD type disk (wrong size etc)...

PC will be the interface. I have a new PC now with multi card reader thingy...I just need lots of nice new SD cards...I see you can get them in twin packs now...gosh this is exciting *pops back into cave and lights fire with sticks*.

Cheers everyone. Job done.
