No, no, no, no... first of all, there is no "best guitarist ever". Second, a guy who takes pride in smashing his guitars to bits on stage doesn't really deserve the respect that "title" warrants.

Yes, I'm partial to Steve Vai, and I know he used to do it too (not with the JEMs though, he's not stupid, he used to have some spare RGs to do it ), but I find that behaviour a bit too over the top... just my two cents.

I do like a lot of the guys mentioned here though, and I'll just throw another into the mix: Steve Lukather.
