I am aware of that you can improve by a variable percentage but when folk set out on a task.. apprentice for example.. and say I will give it 300% .. maddening.. and may I say VERY American

What I can't understand re percentages is this........ok, so not a percentage, but could be made that way....

Bought a pack of cooked chicken breast last week. The ingredients said it contained 121grams chicken per 100grams product.

I'm probably being really thick here and missing something obvious, so will someone please tell me what it is?? I just don't understand.

You sure you read that right and it didnt say 100grms of chicken per 121grms of product? Must be atypo at the label makers otherwise.

Nope. I've noticed it many times before and just can't get my head around it. I think I'm going to write to ask for an explanation one day....lol.

Water content before it goes into the product.
Since it was cooked, the weight before cooking was 121g, but after cooking was 100 grams, due to the water being lost in the cooking product.
That means that 17.356% of you're chicken was water.
Hope that helped.

Heinz tomato sauce has a figure like that.
Confused me for years, was due to water content in the tomatos being lost when made into sauce.

Ahhh...cheers for that. I knew there would be a simple explanation!
