Its done 16,000 ish so defo could do with at least a strip down and regrease. I may as well do that before i get new bearings.

Sounds like you need to go to a decent tester. They should have altered the aim for you whilst it is in front of the test machine. and don't they know a loud exhaust is an essential safety feature

Yeah with them failing it on that too there's the chance they're taking the pi$$.

Strip and inspect, I'd be quite surprised at 16000 if they are actually knackered.

what exhaust do you have?

If you are prepared to travel to Fife I know of a MOT centre that doesn't worry too much about certain loud elements with an exhaust!!

Where did you get it MOT'd?

I may be wrong but unles they can provide a sound proof room to check the noise levels with a standard can then it is only if the baffle is out they can fail it!!

It was at Jim Allans in falkirk. i'm going to get it back down there today with bit of steel wool in the exhaust!!!

If they fail it again on the exhaust our relationship will be terminated there and then! Its a stubbied CCC can with the baffle in. I may well take you up on that fife place but its MOT is out so would like to keep it local if poss.

Anyone know the criteria for the headlight? i'm gonna adjust now, i'll just aim it so its level with the o/s one.

Absolutely agree with you on those two points, to be fair the bike does look a bit "bitsa" with its odd coloured mudguard etc. But for the sake of 2 secs with a screwdriver

Maybe they are struggling for work and hoped i would let them do all the labour!!

headlight adjustment should be done at the test centre as they have the equipment to align correctly. Just ask if they can help you.

it doesn't matter that your MOT has run out as long as you are taking it directly to a test centre, and you have it booked. Just ride sensibly on the way there.

I'll adjust it by eye then tell them to go ahead if it needs any more. Anyone done the steel wool in the exhaust trick? I could stuff it in under the baffle, just hope i can get it back out again!
