Default Paris - City of Love...Advice please

Our 2year Anniversary is on the 20th September!

Mr VT was planning to suprise me and take me to Paris for a week covering the above date, but unfortunately I found out and have ruined it ...bah!

However, since it's no longer a secret, I thought that it would be nice if anyone who has been recently could give us some advice on hotels etc.

I haven't been to Paris in 10 years so it really will have changed I expect.

We intend to go on the Eurostar.

Thanks

I went recently and stayed in the Ibis near the Effiel Tower. If someone had put me in there I would have been upset but as I paid for it myself it was fine

Our room was pokey but to be fair we only used it to sleep in so wasn't really that bothered.

Don't speed in the tunnels near the Eiffel Tower, and watch out for men in Fiat Puntos with cameras

Will do, we are looking at some deals at the moment but they aren't overly cheap, overspending on this isnt really an option as we still want to go snowboarding again next year and there is the NZ trip to fund as well! I will keep you posted.

Auckland, where else lol....
I have a few school friends who live there and Mr VT's Uncle has a girlfriend over there so we are probably going to travel around a bit.

It might be a kind of 'view to emigration' ...we will see, who knows?

When I took him to South Africa last year to meet my Dad, Mr VT fell in love with the lifestyle, just the crime and lack of jobs would put us off moving there.

I think TherealVW will let us stay too, he's always offering.

So advice on that too if you have any

Forget Auckland! It sucks Nah - I'm just jealous since all the good stuff happens in Auckland despite Wellington being the capital. Haven't spent too much time up in Auckland itself. Bay of Islands is nice - especially in the summer as is Cape Reinga if you want to go to the top.

Diving at Poor Kinights is supposed to be some of the best diving in the world (I'm not convinced!) - I'm hoping to get up there myself at some point. Rotorua is also supposed to be cool with it's natural thermal beach.

All of this stuff is around the North Island rather than in Auckland, but if you come to NZ then it is pretty much essential to drive around the country You should try and make it to the South Island as well if you get a chance
