I said that when they release a slim version at a reduced price, I'd get one. However, Baby Wyrdness came along and I've got no time left for gaming. So I probably won't be getting one for some time, if at all.

definitely a lot slimmer than the fat one doesn't look as flashy or sleek as the shiny one mind imo i don't like it so much that i'd trade mine in for it.

Looks tacky to me with the rounded corners.
I know the original is a finger print magnet but the new design is naff. Anyway Gamplay are selling the 80 gig for £250 so no big deal on the price, if they had dropped £100 off that would be nice. Glad i have the 40 gig with my 250 gig upgrade. |

I used a usb stick and used the backup option and then resored on the new drive. But some stuff is protected so you may lose some saves. I think Res evil has been patched to remove the protection do not know about KZ. You can always try the upgrade and bear in mind uou still have the old drive & data if it does not live up to expectations. I did not have to much to back up as I used a 4 gig stick. THe upgrade itself is a piece of cake just get the correct size screwdriver as the screws may be a problem in sone PS3's. |

![]() Just make sure you have enough backup space, if you satisfied you can then get an external caddy and use the old drive as a back up etc for the PS3 but it needs to be formatted to Fat32, which I think XP and Vista do not support on 40+ gig so you need a prog of the net to format it. I bought the WD Scorpio 250 gig had no problems with it. Good Luck. |

![]() The PS3 will ask to format the new drive as soon as you switch back on but it will not recognise the old drive plugged in to the usb if thats what you mean. You must back up to a stick etc as you can not transfer game data etc between drives. The upgrade went like a dream nothing to really worry about. You need HP Fat 32 formatter if you want to format the old drive for PS3 use as an external. Hope that makes sense and answers your question. When you upgrade reply to the thread if you get stuck and I will try to help, but you should have no problem all the PSN Network and passwords will still be there I am not sure if its stored on the backup or is in the PS3 flash ram but it will be there. |
