More flywheel mass does not = stronger.
The weakness as stock is where an oil feed hole is drilled to the sprag clutch bushing.

Indeed, didn't know it was the flywheel.

Is that changed with the Gladius crank?

Not exactly sure to be honest, but they could have made the counterweights bigger or anything like that. But heavier just isn't the same as stronger.

I'd have to have a look at one, maybe it is improved. Maybe it is changed and not improved, maybe it looks the same but some minor detail stops it becoming a problem!

Ok thanks. Back to topic, perhaps the Gladius exhaust cams are a useful mod for K3+ bikes (8.3 vs. 7.3 mm)

There must be some SV Rider with one that you can run off the road, surely? They'll understand.

Gladius: http://www.suzukipowersports.com/fic...009&fveh=28491

Only the the G1 and G2 bikes have the same piston part number, gladius seems to have new pistons, so perhaps the new pistons are needed to have enough clearance?.

02: 12111-20F00-0F0
03+: 12111-20F00-0F0
Gladius: 12111-44H00-0F0

My understanding of this setup is that where 2 springs are used, it's to stop a resonant frequency interfereing with the spring's action at certain (higher) rpms. Rather than that the cams require 2 springs to work.

I forget the physics of it, but essentially 2 lighter, different springs, have a different resonance frequency than one single heavier spring. As the 2 springs have different resonance frequencies to each other this also helps reduce it's effect at a given rpm.

I have little else of use to contribute to this thread, but will watch it with intrest, as I like it's carniverous nature.

There was mention above that these cams would only give about 2bhp over using the K3 ones. Where did the number come from?

My part in that would be guesswork, from G1 to G2 the intake cams changed from 270D/8.1 mm to 279D/8.7 mm and intake swapped to exhaust which gave an estimated 3-7 bhp. The G2 to gladius change is smaller from 279D/8.7 mm to 281D/9.0 mm coupled with the same intake to exhaust swap would possibly result in another 2-3bhp hike compared to generation 2 cams. But as said not a really scientifically sound prediction for my part.
