my absolute toppest tip is to go to a camping supermarket/ internet site like "Go Camping" and buy Ortleib 100% waterproof bags. They are in the shape of a tube - like an army kit bag.
the top rolls down to fit around the size of the contents and the trapped air means you can bungee them onto the bike - so stuff doesn't get too crushed.
you can use them to store stuff in the tent - keeping everything nice and dry.
they lift straight on and off the bike - easier than emptying panniers etc.
AND they are super cheap - £15-25 depending on size (25-50L and bigger) - and useful for shed storage etc when not used on the bike.
I used a medium and large to give flexibility of packability - I put my tent, sleeping bag and INFLATABLE mattress (don't take a foam one) in one. bungees will secure it on.
don't take any cooking equipment at all. you won't need it - plenty of food stalls at events. if you're lucky the christian bikers will have a tea stall - they are open 24/7.
if you do use panniers and they aren't waterproof, go to wilco's and get those plastic bags that you squeeze the air out of to pack clothes into. they shrink the size of your clothes so you can take more - and keep it all dry and clean.
take dettol wet wipes and paper hankies in small packs and carry one with you at all times.
buy a cheap head torch from wilco's/ pound shop and keep it with you. with luck, once you've left the tent you will be too busy getting ****ed to go back and get it.
put your tent up when you arrive - near something memorable! not in a dip. not near the loos.
take a woolly hat, socks and pyjamas and a jumper. its autumn. its VERY cold in a tent.
take a simple breakfast - chocolate, water and ribena and hangover cure. you will thank yourself when you don't have to get out of bed straight away.
if you like it consider buying a Khyam Biker tent for next time.
don't spend any money - borrow everything if you can.
take the warmest

Sorry my spare panniers are out on loan at the moment . Time constraints mean the Ebay option is out. Even if someone on here had some to lend, you'd be hard pressed to get them in time.

Another essential item for any bloke in a tent is a bottle of lucozade. Drink on arrival, keep bottle, instant loo in middle of night - sorted!

Not sure about a pointy pete but a pointy SV is the later more errrrmmm pointy model, as opposed to the earlier more errrrmmm curvy model, i believe the pointy is from 03 onwards or some such.

Personally i'd love a curvy model but i prefer the pointy SV.
