TBH I don't think they could, certainly not while making it something a regular consumer would stomach

Every single bit of technology designed to stop people pirating things has failed, usually within a few days or weeks of it being released, simply because there's a lot more people working to break such technologies, and they're far smarter than the record companies / software industry / film studios when it comes to computers

09 F9, havent seen that for a while.

The only way this is possible is with the presence of an authorisation key or a dedicated piece of hardware (think Xbox 360 approach). I just dont think thats the proper way to do this though. The industry needs to encourage the ease of copying music whilst also making it easy and fair to pay for its usage.

Yeah sure there will be people that dont pay but there will be a significant chunk that will and thats where the income should come from. If the artists or industry make it worth your while then you'll do it, I've downloaded and paid for loads of stuff through iTunes even though I could have got it for nothing.

They've been trying, no wait scratch that, failing... for years - Betcha can't name a single successful DRM technology...

Put it this way, any DRM system strong enough that it can't be broken will inconvenience above board, 100% legal consumers so badly there'll be a massive backlash, see the DRM implemented in the game "Spore" or, even better, Sony installing Spyware on your PC without your permission...

1. A court would very rarely remove your vehicle if doing so would punish someone else who was innocent of the crime you committed, such as your wife using it to get to work as a nurse, in the same way that removing a broadband connection would punish everybody in your household when it was only mum, or one of the kids that was downloading

2. Considering around one in ten people in the UK download illegally, a similar number or fewer than those who break the speed limit, I can only assume you'd be supportive of GPS speed monitoring that automatically tells the government at any time you exceed the speed limit so they could come and take your car/bike away from you? After all, you're breaking the law aren't you?

correct me if im wrong but surely if you want a commodidty, be it sugar, motorcycles or music you should pay for it?

the latest batman game has a glitch if you download it illegaly. some of the characters moves are disabled which has then prompted the nefarious little buggers to post on forums telling the world about the glitch.

Oops!

IMHO the music industy, TV and maybe even the artists have killed themselves off.

Music industry for not having the foresight to embrace MP3 when it came along and for punting out too much formulaic music.
No more Tv shows to promote music, no Top of the pops, the Tube, Old Grey Whistle test. This how I came to discover new artists and how artists got to promote themselves. OK MTV and other channels do this now, but you have to pay for a video shoot now.
Prima donna artists who do nothing but slagg each other off in the gutter press, Lily Allan is at no 1 of this chart. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than too see this little cow fall flat on her face. She can't sing to save her life. Leonard Cohen sings happier songs

Sorry you are right. But it's the only one on mainstream TV?
