Why is everyone wanting clarification on how DD died yet when it came to Hovis it was all hush hush, no ones needs to know.

I don't understand this need to prove DD wasn't in the SBS. Utterly pointless.

There was nothing hush hush about Hovis' passing mate, just look at all the threads that were about at the time.

I dont think anyone is after any gorey details, just clarification that the person some have shed a tear for is actually gone and deserving of the tears some shed.

what I don't understand is that Becks replied to Lozzo to say that DD wasn't killed in Afghan, and then this whole episode starts - and Mr Spiers is right, when people asked how Hovis passed away, in case there was a lesson to be learned, not through a morbid interest, a lot of people were told it "didn't matter how it happened".

I was told by PM about Hovis' accident and only cos i asked someone i trusted to tell me the bear facts of it. I'd rather have known the truth from a trusted source than heard it thru the usual rumour mill.

I think the confusion partly comes from the fact that we were told he didnt die in Afghanistan but was "fighting to the end". He may well have has a disease that he fought to the end so i think its only fair that some people want clarification.

Personally i dont really care one way or the other, if he's gone he'd still get an RIP post from me but i can understand how some of our friends in the forces and ex-forces wouldn't like to be lied to.

I agree

As i said in the other thread, i have no interest in how he died but would like to have confirmation either way. If he is alive - that is awesome but why the lies, if he is no longer with us - people who knew him both in real life and on here can morn. Everyone has the right to morn and to know if the person they are morning deserves their pain.

I read it that way too, and don't get me wrong, the fact that Hovis passed away was all I needed to know, I just saw other people asking and being told not to ask about the circumstances, if people felt PM was more suitable to reply that's fine too.

I doubt we'll find out one way or the other now - I have had a quick look through feeds from SBS Headquarters and there are no other theatre notifications either, so it could well be something more mundane that caused DD's passing.

We all know how Hovis died so that argument is completely void. We know that Hovis died as a result of a motorbike collision. The causation behind that was not discussed in public as it was felt that the details of the accident did not need to be discussed.

It was certainly the implication in the original posts that DD was KIA - with Becks claiming not to know how or where, I venture to suggest that if it had been something more mundane than an apparent KIA then she would have known, ie, a disease, an accident, etc etc. The post also states he was "brought home" further fuelling the idea he was KIA.

I think out of respect for the guys across there who really are fighting and are being KIA, we need to know if this is a lie or not.

No disrespect is intended by this post if DD is indeed dead, by some means, however, I would seek clarification re the cause of his death for those who wish to mourn for him on here.

i didn't know DD at all, but having served in the forces it would be nice to have some clarification.
I don't know why the org feel it always has to be kept hush hush when somebody passes away, i still don't know any details of Hovis's passing. But RIP to both of them.

I see your point of view, I guess being as I haven't been around on here that long and didn't know either person very well it isn't so important to me.

Why do you need to know anymore than he was killed as a result of a motorbike collision??? You don't.

I think the fact that the cause of Hovis' accident was kept quiet is out of respect for both his friends on here and also the fact that the thread was going to get printed off for his mother to read how well liked and loved he was on here.

Just like all we want here is to know where DD was killed, or what was the cause of his death.
