could you document some examples of the british government doing this in modern times and i will have a read, as i wouldnt know where to start.

I don't really care of they do or they don't because it's very unlikely to affect me or my loved ones. If they do, then fair play to them as long as it's used for the right reasons. If they don't, then they must be about the only major player in the world who doesn't.

Anyhoo, as a good example of how these things work and how govts try to keep themselves at arms length from it, even tho they got the ball rolling in the first place, try and find the documentary that Ch4 aired recently about Simon Mann and his coup attempt. I think it was called The Trial Of Simon Mann or something similar and you may find it on the Ch4 website perhaps.


Alternatively go into any good bookshop and look under MI5/6 topics and you'll find plenty, i just cant think of a title off the top of my head accept The Secret Wars, which to be honest with you i found a rambling and badly written history of the spy services of the UK and the US. the book itself could have been half as long if it didnt ramble all over the place and repeat itself in various chapters.

Its very likely "they" killed David Kelly as a current example, would you are that it was for the right reasons, tho?

The reasons being he was about to say their whole basis for invading a country was a lie.

Now "they" will say it was right cos it was in the country's best interests but would you agree that whats good for the country in "their" view is also the right thing?

Well here we are a month on and it seems Mossad have been caught with pants down doing just what no civilised modern nation can possibly admit to.I can just imagine the hypocrisy of todays conversation between the Israeli ambassador and the British foriegn office gofer.

Altho seriously, MI5 if someone in England is annoying, MI6 for the foreign 'hits'. Obviously that's not all they do, but covert operations and hits are a fundamental of any society that wants to stand a chance of survival in this country.

It is like the inevitability of war. Countries don't always fight just wars, and the probably don't always make just hits either, but its all in the name of said countries own survival.

Just imagine the conspiracies out there we dont even know about.

Isreal have been quick to say that there is no evidence to link them to the killing...although I suspect it is more of a case that they have made sure there is no evidence to find!
