Most of the Windows and VMware stuff is picked up by the teams in Belgium, though I do get a weekly e-mail of jobs that appear so I will keep my eye out.
At the end of the day people might hate AIX, Sorlaris or anything else, but it pays my bills and lots of Banks use it which is still where the money is if you want to get paid well. Plus I don't just do AIX, I've worked on Dynix many years ago, HP-UX and more recently Solaris and Redhat. Lost track of the things that I've done that are no longer used, and changed with the times, through the SAP boom and the bordom that was the Menilium bug scare, plus lots of other things.

LOL, I get paid to support AIX, UNIX (SINIX, UnixWare, Solaris etc) , Linux (predominantly SuSE), Windows, ESX etc etc etc. This is why I can slate AIX for being bloody awkward.

Actually even worse than that I also get paid to support COBOL[1] running on UNIX & Linux.

Druid

[1] You (well not you but some people) would be amazed at how much still runs on COBOL.

Depends where you start, I started initially on Sun boxes, really started sysadmin on SINIX[1] and SCO while playing with Linux and AIX is just annoyingly different from everything I'd worked with and got used to previously. Never really grown to like it.

Still running two of them as well. I'm possibly now the countries leading expert on the PXRC's too.

I used UNIX for the first time in anger(done it as a student before) 4 weeks ago and it was a total nightmare. we had to use VI and i decided to build the ctl file on my xp box and use ftp to upload. the other members of my team still fart about with VI. they wonder how i get my data in to the oracle box so fast !! i'm not telling

I'm an Oracle DBA (for about 10 years or so now). When I first started out I struggled with vi, but now I love it. I do get a bit of a twisted thrill out of watching our SQL Server dba struggle with it though (and Unix in general) as I try to cross-train him
