Yeah right... I can promise you I've got far more exciting things planned for when I retire! To answer the original question, no there isn't. There are plenty of law books, and equally boring manuals on policy and procedure, and regrettably more and more young officers are getting them rammed down their throat instead of learning the rules of practical policing. The problem is it's not the officers fault this is happening, it's the public. When I first started we tended to treat people as we found them, if they gave us gip they got the same back, if they were half reasonable we would be equally co-operative and understanding. Nowadays people want to be able to slag you off to your face, ignore what you ask them to do, push you out of the way if you try and stop them doing something they shouldn't, and then complain about you if you don't give them a thank you note afterwards.
