Ok we have to note that for most this is not worth it apart from mabey the parts being cheeper than later gsxr sutff, the forks & disks still have to be pulled from a gsxr, so the only bit that you are saving is a wheel with speedo drive. This realy only works if you are planning on staying with old GSXR parts, if you start mixing and matching with newer stuff you will have disk offset issues as most disks are flat and not dished like curvey SVs.

Anyways, nice to see someone work around the problem.

ps. Northwind did a nice rear wheel speedo conversion using the stock speedo sensor.

Excellent work! Looks good. Why did you want to use the SV front wheel?

seems it keeps the normal speedo, but also as he is using old GSXR forks, he needs the dished disks and so the SV wheel suits that it seems, well thats what i think, may be wrong

It wasn't in my original plan, I was going to go down the glue and magnet route. But having being offered the spindle to use the Sv front wheel and speedo made sense, as it meant a relatively straight swap..

The only real issues I had were with the ignition barrel being a smaller diameter than the GSXR one, plus the GSXR yoke was thicker than the SV one, so I had to grind away about 10mm on the underside of the ignition mount, so the bottom of the ignition didn't foul the fairing mount.

So all in all going for the SV front wheel was a neater solution, and less hassle IMHO

Im just wandering how much heavier the old early GSXR forks were + solid disks + SV wheel + old calipers + yokes are compared to a similar setup in newer 2000 GSXR stuff

Don't know, although the old GSXR spindle was solid, where from SRAD onwards its hollow?

Disks weigh a ton, so I will upgrade them at some point, but I can't imagine there's a lot of difference between the fork weight. Just the internals will be better.

The later brakes will be better as well.

But I should have reduced the unsprung weight by swapping to USD forks (or the other way round )

But they do feel better than the standard, and I've got compression & rebound damping to fiddle with.

But most of all I love the look, no spindly SV forks

Yes SRAD spindle is hollow, they yokes are way way lighter than stock SV ones as they are hollow in parts compared to solid SV ones. The brakes, well yours are Nissin and later they went tokiko, i think yours are ment to be fairly good. I think the old GSXR forks were heavy compared to later stuff, not sure, ive got RWU 600 forks and they are light compared to USD.

I'm not too impressed with Tokico calipers, the ones fitted to the 'busa certainly are poorly designed (and I believe the 4 pot GSX-R's are very similar), the SV's originals are better.

If I had a choice I'd go with Nissin.

WRT weight FWIW the 'busa forks are ~4Kg a leg.
