I would 100% but i know if i was in your shoes my partner wouldn't as she is a real family person & loves the close contact thing, i suppose i could just see her at weekends!

does the mrs fully understand what she's wanting u to do? does she fully appreciate that staying where u are could result in loss of job and the potential trouble that could cause to u her and the whole family around? not to mention the chance for u to move somewhere and really improve ur financial stability and future prospects in life?

have you considered bringing her upto edinbugh for a weekend and letting her see what she'll be moving too? show her the type/size of property u would be able to afford and that edinburgh is an amazing city with lots to do and lots going on?

would u be able to do the commute type thing for a while? for example buy a small flat or somehing up here and head back every week/couple of weeks to see the family? I know it's not ideal but idont know what other options u really have?

You've sorted out everything it seems. Having worked in Edinburgh I think its a great place, I don't like cities, but Edinburgh is an exception.

My sister still lives outside and I'd happily live there. Not far to the highlands, Glen Shee dry ski slope, airport on the doorstep, McKewans, Edinburgh rock, Bellhaven ale.

It is a no brainer

ahh sounds like she doesn't want to get rid of the horse - how about having a weekend up there as suggested and look at property you could realistically afford and look at stables etc in which she could put the horse..

Then as someone else suggested look at houses where you are now that you will realistically be able to afford (i.e somewhere scratty lol) and point out that if you have no job then you wont be able to afford the horse anyway!!

I would say look at crap houses first and show her the **** house, no horse option first then show her decent house possibly with paddock/stables or stables etc close by and live somewhere nice and keep horse option..

Dont pressure her though or she will dig her heels in further!

Is there anything else that is praying on her mind if you move?? Sounds like you need to discuss properly!

A mate of mine recently had a similar decision with his wife.. He moved, she stayed with horses and near her parents, he came home weekends - for a while.... they have now split as it wasn't working! So you really need to have a serious heart to heart with her..

Hope things turn out for the best in the end....

(and if she really doesn't want to move - I do a mean massage - its my job! and I dont mind moving haha)
