"Improved junctions and markings, along with resurfacing with high friction, anti-skid treatments, saw the number of serious accidents fall from 27 between 2003 and 2005 to seven in the following three years"
No mention of the effects the 50mph limit and camera's has had

![]() The cameras are before and after the pub meaning you can run up to the pub doing silly speeds. If you survive then have a drink for about an hour then go down again!! Have been there in the last couple of weeks and also there is no resurfacing done. The road is still in a bad shape. But they have ticked the boxes on their end so all is well ![]() |

Two roads are up my way, neither of which I would consider to be dangerous

You gotta love reporting and stats
the Road Safety Foundation report states " Scotland has the highest-risk highways" yet none of the dangerous roads are here get the feeling that is has something to do with the fact that only 25% of the survey was done in scotland |

I'm not surprised the West Midlands is the safest. When I was down there a couple of years back I thought they were celebrating my birthday there were that many 50 signs all over the place.

That will be because the cameras have not been activated since they were installed in April. There is a short cut at various points on/off of the A54/A537 that the camera cover meaning you can average 86mph without ever breaking the speed limit. They can't think of a way around it, so they can't be switched on.

Is it wrong that when i see signs saying 'Bends DEAD ahead' and stats about 27 deaths in 5 years or something that i think, "Oooh, must be a good road, better head down there."
