My tool kit worked itself free of the bag on the way up to Snetterton yesterday and the contents ended up stuck down the side of the pillion seat cavity and the bag prevented me removing the cowl. By taking the front seat off I managed to retrieve all but one spanner and the pliers. So now I either have to remove the plastics or bribe my small nephew with ice cream to stick his hand into the little space and get them out for me.
And I've lost the screw that holds on on the triangular plastic panel just under the seat. Got Parkinsons to order me a new one. Wonder how much that'll cost. Hopefully less than the £816.17 I paid for the new shock and mount on my car today!

Removing the plastics really is a 10 minute job, but if you want to take longer, get a wire coat hanger and cut/bend it into a make shift fishing rod and probe around until you hook the spanner/pliers.
If you want a bolt for the plastic panel, I can send you one that is similar/will fit, but isn't exactly the same. I think the bolts are around £3 from a dealer. |

Thanks for the offer of the bolt. Hopefully Parkinson's will get on fairly quickly but if not I'll PM you.

You can buy a decent 7 series for that much. Mate's dad has a two owner from new, 95K mile, 1997 730i SE with full BMW history up for £850

That is for a 7 series. Took them all day to do it as it needed rear shocks. And they also had to faff about changing a smashed wing mirror.
