Question What-Why-How (De-Snorkel) SV650S?

SV650S 2006 fully faired.
Been reading about this so called de-snorkel of the airbox, and was wondering if it's worth it?
I ride pretty much everyday, rain or shine! so could there be any chance of water getting into the airbox.
And love big loud noises!-which i heard this de-snorkel thing does.
But are there any power increases or de-creases, more likely for me, any flat spots? as im restricted to 33hp at the moment.pffft

Pro's & Con's?

Thanks people!

Don't bother, sounds slightly better but gave a flat spot and made it a bit more vibey

Pull it out at see what you think.

Its a 5 min job to take out and same to put back if you don't like it.

like others have said, sounds good like a loud growling around 5-6k but i wouldnt want to ride it in the rain and it probably does nothing for performance

Half-way house - swap an SV1000 snorkel in

i also agree with installing the sv1000 snorkel. Where the sv650 snorkel is about half the width of the the rubber section, the sv1000 runs nearly from one side to the other. It's a much wider snorkel, and so you will get more airflow into the airbox without any compromise

I pulled mine out a while ago, takes 10 seconds as said, sounds the dogs and for me anyway gave a tad more grunt at higher revs, i assume due to more air getting to airbox.

Dont worry about the rain it will do nothing to it.

If it gets too loud for you, pop it back in!

Don't bother, sounds stupid as it overpowers the sound of the exhaust / engine and from memory made it perform worse

Clearly your exhaust isn't loud enough
