Back on track slightly...

I think this situation is only going to get worse.

Petrol / Diesel prices continue to rise
Cost of living increases

Will drive more people to consider commuting to work by bicycle, especially with the current drive to be seen as a "green" employer and reduce the amount of employee's using their cars to get to and from work. I think has and will see more people commuting by bicycle. Especially as you can get a BSO ( bike shaped object ) very cheap now and even something reasonable from Halfords is only the equivalent of a couple of tanks of Diesel in something like our Audi.

What I dont understand is how people get on a pushbike and all their common sense goes out the window. IMHO by far the worse menace whilst cycling is other cyclists...

I'm so glad I don't work for a green employer!
We manage the most inefficient things in the world... Buildings

Your right the menace is other cyclists, hence why I don't commute on one

If you want safety, don't ride a bicycle on a busy public road, end of.

If you lot think cyclists are militant where you live, try riding a motorcycle around Cambridge, where bicycles clog up every available space in the traffic, pathways, and yet the designated cycle paths are empty. 90% of the cyclists are of foreign origin, and most of the countries they come from don't regard traffic law or manners as a part of normal daily life.

It's no small wonder that cyclists are hated nationally when you see the disregard they have for other road and pathway users around here.

You could say the same about motorcycles though.

Thing is, its OK moan, whinge and generally bitch about the admittedly stupid things that some cyclists do.

But if some of the comments in this and other threads on this forum, the word cyclist, was replaced with the word motorcyclist, you'd all be frothing at the mouth calling for the executioner...
