you have two options, both are detailed here, I prefer time-serts for sump plugs, but either will do.
Cheers Mark.

Time Sert.
Helie Coils are not durable enough in soft materials.

Erm what do you think the "Magnetic" in Magnetic Sump Plug does?
Clue: Its not to hold the sump plug in. I would say get it Time Sert/Helicoiled. Last thing you would want would be for it to fail/come loose on a ride and give you a nice oily surface under your rear tyre. Not worth just bodging and hoping in my opinion.

I disagree. Time sert might be slightly better true, but you're still comparing a stainless steel thread to an ally one. If the ally was fine then what problems do you expect?
What problems have you seen from using helicoils in aluminium? I used to build some machinery and we used hundreds of helicoils in aluminium parts. The parts would come back shagged after more tooling changes than the average SV will ever see oil changes, the threads and inserts looking fine...

helicoils do and have worked in the sump, generally they have a builtup thickness anyway, I prefer the time serts as people tend to give the sump plug a good old tug when tightening (why? I have no idea), but Chris is right the kits are expensive on initial outlay, but the inserts themselves aren't bad individually.
Cheers Mark.
