Its because EVERYTHING in the movie industry cost so much - the catering, the wages of the actors. See my earlier post about Travolta with his private jumbo jet playground and Scientlology habit.

Everyone knows that the Movie industry has budgets in millions of pounds, so they charge accordingly.

We would see different movies, but not necessarily worse ones.
SK to be honest mate you are talking out your a**e. I love your generalisations of an industry as a whole that you really seem to have no comprehension of at all.

You have taken the top names of "hollywood" and made that your platform for your little rant here, but seriously there are a lot of films made without the big budgets, and then there are the big budget films that are doing a lot to get a social message out there.

SOME actors might be overpaid, but most of those are now producers themselves and have used their money back into their industry, which keep THOUSANDS of people employed!

If you are going to critic their opinions of religion then perhaps we should also look at your empatic religion against apple.

Yes censorship is not a good thing, no doubt pirate bay will find another way around this and will still be around. Those in the know will always be able to use it.

I personally dont believe that piracy actually takes away earnings from the industry. Your generalisations do not hold true for all artists...

In the words of Woody Guthrie: "This song is Copyrighted in U.S., under Seal of Copyright #154085, for a period of 28 years, and anybody caught singin it without our permission, will be mighty good friends of ourn, cause we donīt give a dern. Publish it. Write it. Sing it. Swing to it. Yodel it. We wrote it, thats all we wanted to do."

As for the gaming industry I also think that you are generalising a LOT and just cherry picking to back your own argument. There are a lot of gaming names that also use their money back out there in ways that will benefit society, for example using their technology to show how in game format how diabetes works for kids to understand how to use their insulin.

So without the money they got where would this research and development come from. By the way the research and development for games is not a cheap exercise and the money is put up BEFORE the game is released, so IF it does well they get the money back, if it doesnt.. they carry the risks.

So you shouldn't pirate games in case someone uses the same engine to make something like Captain Novolin or Magi & The Sleeping Stars?!

You've got to be kidding. That's cherry picking to back your argument.

This has kind of reminded me of the rumours of the new Xbox '720' that's being released next year.
There's a spec document that's been leaked out from Microsoft and there's rumours that they new console is taking away the fact you can play 2nd hand games.

I find this pretty stupid because they're making it is as though we've been doing something wrong for the past years by buying and playing 2nd hand games.
Hmmmm.

If I can't play second hand games they I won't be buying their console.

Too many games are big steaming piles of excrement to shell out full price for them.

Which is a shame because I would otherwise have got one almost as soon as it came out.

I feel the same spank, I don't mind paying top dollar price if it's something like the new release of COD or Borderlands 2 but for silly little games I buy 2nd hand like I bought Ironman yesterday.

They will loose out big time with money if they do this, so will game stores.

Not at all, it was one example to counter the massive sweeping generalisations being made.

I also dont believe that I said anywhere in the above post that you shouldnt pirate anything.

Personally I loved the bit were you mentioned them giving a pittance to charity.

Wouldn't it be easier if they charged less and then I could decide which charities I wanted my money to go to?
