Leave it be, if it were meant to be greased you'd see it, and less is more.
If you're buying a soldering iron then get a 25W or 40W one, nothing less, they take all day to heat up i.e. rubbish. You are meant to heat the job not the solder so depending how good it is as a heat sink, you sometimes just can't solder anything bigger than a resistor with a 15W one! |

Hi Yoko, can't see anything under the bottom plate the resembles that washer. On the upside, my lens arrived from Rocky. As described, no fungus and only the tiniest trace of dust. Would be happy to use them again. Its a weighty lens, bigger than I thought.

That's really good news about the Rocky deal, especially after reading the bad reviews.
I tried the washer in a few different places but, with the cover back on and a good shake, it falls off from everywhere except the film release button. Maybe it's some kind of shim for there. |

Just flicked through a service manual for the K1000 and I can't see any reference to the washer.
My Tamron is the 22A model, which is yours?

Your link looks fine, the stand in the link above is more useful for wiping of the tip - though any damp sponge will do I guess! Not sure this helps http://www.pentax-manuals.com/manual...icemanuals.htm as I have a K1000 manual and I think it's the same one. A picture on line though shows the left side and there's no washer - though I guess it could have been removed first. |

The manual does help Johnny, thanks. Page 8; it's a dust seal for the film rewind button.

Cool. That's the manual I looked through, it's in black and white so missed it. Do you think the K1000 will be a keeper once fixed?

Yeah. I think I'll keep it if I can fix it. Supposed to be a classic and I like the shutter sound.
Starting to feel guilty now for only offering the guy £15. I got the Chinon working if the Pentax is repairable, and the Canon works, I think we did rather well. |
