Oh and to make another point, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to ride your bike when the weather's crap, the fact some of us do is usually (note not always) because the bike is the only form of transport we have, it's either that or don't get paid. Those of you who are lucky enough to own a bike as a toy, well hats off to you for earning enough money to do so and could you give me some please????

I'm sure one of these days I'll be told off for wearing my bike boots around the office. I'm still wearing your shirt and f***ing tie, though. |

![]() The 'L' plate thing is a laugh, see a guy on a RS125 on the plates go fleeing past me and a guy who was willy waving at me, he sort of looked like a plum afterwards

To be fair Q, I don't think they'd have a leg to stand on with that - what would they do if you didn't have a car license and your bike was your only form of transport? Provided you take smart clothing with you, I don't see how they can stop you?!

![]() On topic, I have my bike and my car, way I see it, I am increasing my chances of coming a cropper en route to work at 7am in the winter due to black ice/snow/torrential rain (people who don't clear windscreens or mirrors enough...). I have ridden in icy conditions and I have ridden in high winds and torrential rain and while I don't mind it, I don't want to do it every damn morning when I have a perfectly good car sitting there! I know people will say it improves your riding, and whilst I agree it does, last year I had to attend an accident with a work colleague, an experienced and very good rider, who came off because of a sneaky wee patch of black ice in the middle of a bend. Accidents happen and to be honest, I'd rather be having fun on my bike if I get hurt than just trundling along to work....no fun in that! ![]() |

I am a Summer rider, but by that I mean I don't ride in adverse weather conditions unless completely necessary, reducing the risk of having an off. Not all Summer riders are silly, just some of us don't have to use our bikes in the cold, wet, ice and snow and don't feel like having to prove or account for being macho any where any place types.I did all that before I could afford to run a car and a bike
If your bike is your only means of transport and you ride in all weathers okay but I have alternative transport for the bad weather It is the generalisation of the thread title that is a bit unfair on people who don't ride in the winter so please don't tar us all with the same brush. |

It's difficult to turn up to work looking smart and fresh after a bike ride. Although I'm sure they couldn't stop you they could probably make your life difficult by saying you appearance is not up to scratch to maintain the company image.

I manage it! As long as you fold stuff right when you put it in your bag its fine! Doesn't take long to give your face a quick wash and sure it won't take Q long to put her make up on and tie her hair back or what ever!!
