Mike, both Toni and I would be more than happy to help you in the kitchen on Saturday, although she will be much more help than I am, I can make a mean garlic mash and chop veggies like a demon...

Would prefer some of your fine cooking if it's not too much of a hassle Mike

I suspect dessert may be taken care of...

I am happy either way to be honest as is Lily.

However - we have a slight issue, we cannot get a hire bike, logistic muck up at Llandegla, they only have a large hire left available despite telling me it would be a medium........therefore we have no bike for Lily. So at the moment.......will just be me that is coming.

They can source a medium for the morning.....but it needs to be back for 12pm so not going to work.

Ask them to let her "demo" a bike from the shop or one of the bikes that are there for the demo day?

Bit off telling you they have a bike then they don't!!...

Problem solved......the manager called me back and apologised......he did suggest the large may actually be ok on account that she is 5'8".....and the large is 5'9" upwards......so with some saddle adjustment etc then we should be able to make it fit.

So have booked the large and keep fingers crossed it will be ok.

Can't book the Demo bikes in advance and also the demo bikes can only be taken out round a brief 30mins section as it is a demo day - you can use demo bikes for longer but needs to be arranged for a different weekend.

I'll go with the flow Mike, and cook at yours. I was part of the onion chopping team at AR11 and have cooked for up to 14 hairy men and women at one go, so helping out doesn't phase me.

Just christened the bike off road, just to make sure I remember what off roading is all about. Bit of gear fettling is needed since Mr Halfrauds set it up.

Can I get anyones thoughts on something please.......Hybrid for the blue route......doable? Not ideal I know but the blue is mainly fire roads and simple mud parts.....the Hybrid has front suspension - so can't see it would be much of an issue?!?

Drew, in reply to your PM also I reckon the hybrid would manage the blue run just fine, but you may come unstuck (or simply stuck) with the choice of tyres if you don't have some with some knobbles on. Chap posted on pistonheads this week that it was muddy last weekend, I'm going to be running Mud-X 2.0s and Toni on Nevegals

You're more than welcome to bring it with, weather looks dry until the weekend and it will definitely fit in the car with one of the back seats down

How big *is* the large frame? Toni is about the same height (I think?) and she is OK on my 18" Mongoose with the seat right down

Whatever happens, we say Lily should come along and if the cycling doesn't work out they can go hiking... to the pub and get hammered...

Drew what size are the wheels. 700c or 26in MTB wheels?

I've got a pair of cyclocross wheels with knobbly tyres on if they're 700c wheels

Or I've got a pair of 26in x 1.95 MTB tyres with knobbly treads, so should be narrow enough to work on the hybrid.

I can bring either pair of tyres along and it won't take a minute to put them on.
