Dukes on full chat sound good. Dukes bimbling along or idling do not sound good. Why have a dry clutch? And while I'm on the matter I'll go back to the cam belts. Why? why belts?

The dry clutch does make sense upto a point. As far as I know they offer better friction so ofcourse you can put more power through one without having to have super strong springs... that makes actuation of it easier.

That is a complete guess so correct me if im wrong.

I think all of it comes down to tradition at the end of the day... which is a fairly cool thing, not many other companies do it, and very few to the extent of Ducati.

OK they sound 'orrible. We get it.

Having followed Pete and Lissa around a bit this weekend, I'm even more convinced they sound 'orrible when rattling. Sound pretty good when in gear and not rattling though.

I like dry clutch noises.

I appreciate different bikes do different things.

some people might want to open their box of hate a little more.

going back to lukemillar - I've got friends that use the likes of busa's and zzr1400's to eat up miles - sometimes 400 at a time. They have the legs on distance with an effortless ease - low revs and good aero packages make for quiet comfort.

I rode the zzr1400 through some twisties and it was very very nibble. Comparable to a GSXR750 I had (SRAD one) in the feebback it gave. I was so shocked.

p.s I once thought an a ducati behind me was an air hammer in the road works in front!

Nasty noise that takes away from the exhaust burble that I like so much on tick over with the SV.

Read the post village idiot (meant as a joke)

I said the dry clutch noise means you can't hear the lovely ducati burble at tick over - its good on my SV (new cams, dyno etc) so imagine what a tuned duke would be like if you didn't have a building site on the side of the engine.

Village idiot, be carefull newbie wippersnapper....

Dry clutch means you know you've got a fully equiped bike underneath you. Smile beneath your helmet when others look in a "that sounds broken" face, and laugh at their lack of knowledge as to what you've got.

All you would hear is thump thump thump.... Theres more to the noises a bike makes than simple "exhaust notes"...

Take a triple, mid range revs, for example. Nothing to do with exhaust note at all :P

Dry clutches sound awesome. Proper bit of kit.

wippersnapper . . . is that a chat up? I know I'm only a few posts in so not looking to have any battles - I'd rather find a riding buddy, preferably female, fast, tight fitted leathers, in kent but I digress

I see you point - how often are you sat idling in neutral. . . .

There is something reasuringly mechanical about a dry clutch sound. Plus all those people who have see thru crankcases - ducati wins that battle!!

A few friends with them said the build quality is not great though. One sold his and bought a yamaha.

What do people think about the new backwards spinning, cross plane rossi esk yamaha sound?
