+2

A lot of people appear to miss the whole point of the bike(SV).

i'd just be happy with a better build quality and maybe USD forks, the 650 is quick enuf for most.

I agree... Its having the option.

Im a fussy taste person. I like those rarer bikes. Hence why I can't see me owning a GSXR, or R6/1, etc.. They are jsut bloody everywhere you look. Some can be ridden, some are straightliners....

I love my twins, but as said, unless your forking out Ducatis maintenance bills, theres not really much from the SV650 until you get to the Aprilla Milles, and other 1000cc Vee Twins. Even Suzuki tamed back the TL into the SV....

I'd be interested in an 800cc Twin SV. But given the current range, an SV, replace the brakes, and replace the suspension front and rear.

Build quality, well, thats the SV/Bandit type range, cheap easy hacks to be enjoyed but not expecting great quality.... But how much more expensive would it be to replace SV items with other bike items???? Outright speed doesn't bother me, but at 80-90mph, on my old SV, i would have liked just that bit more umph...

I like the underdog doing well. Hence why i LOVED BlueSV650's track vid from Silverstone... Similarly i'd rather an RS250 over a IL4 SS 600cc.... GO the underdog

I love my Sv and yes things can be improved on it, but I have th Sv because I can't afford Ducati or something simlair, so adding more to it will make it more expenisve and say it was £5-5500 I couldn't have afford the bike....so what bike would have I been on if the Sv was too expensive?

Brand new...

But what about resales too.

Also, from lots of experience of modding cars, I know that to get something added on from factory can be far more reliable (tested too) than doing it all yourself.

You can add a set of upgraded brakes, then try to sort them to give the best braking, or you can get the factory to do it, test it, make it work better, then sell it to you....

I like options I'll have the SVR option. It wouldn't require much work, and "COULD" open up a new small market.

I have SV650R stickers on my bike. I tell people it's a souped up Japan market only bike that there are only a few of in the UK. The lengths I'll go to for my own amusement I tell ya...

I agree it wouldnt require much work, but like you say its a small market and I just can't see Suzuki spending time and effort for what IMHO would be a small number of sales I cant think they'd make their money back on it. Hence why I dont think they'd ever do it.

IMHO the sort of niche market is already filled by Ducati, what would you rather tell people you rode a Suzuki or a Ducati...

Also the SVR is going to intrude into the GSXR market again why would Suzuki compete with themselves.

IMHO of course.

Nahh see its more fun to play it down.
Like having a 2.0 16v in your car, and badging it as a 1.0 12v

All good points Fizzy, although I couldn't see the SVR ever being as quick as a GSXR600 say...

I suppose if you want more "umph" from an SV, you have to just go to the thousand..

I still see these Thou's all around, and they just look so good, if only the suspension/brakes were a bit better.

Remember, the factory is going to pay much less than youu expect for the upgrades mentioned.

Say it was cosmetic, fairing, seat cowl, hugger, the sport already has £450 of add-ons that cost £100 from Suzuki (SV£4599, Sport £4699)

So for say, upgraded fork internals, upgraded shock, upgraded discs, sintered pads, possibly £300? Straight off with out a re-tune, your knocking at £5k

The problem is really that it's marketed as a budget all-rounder, First- Big Bike.

While Suzuki probably wouldn't do it due to lack of sales, somebody else could/ does? Mini-twins?

As many have said in previous posts, that's half the fun of the SV, deciding what you want to improve and the choice of after-market parts.

If I had £5-£6k to burn, I'd look for an almost new, or new deal 600 supersport .

Good post though, getting a good discussion going.

Cheers
