I actually almost did the same thing.
Got new tyres fitted, pulled away slowly... carefully rolled on ever so slightly... spun up the back wheel.
And I am on the bike thinking, ohhh jeeeesus, there is absolutely no grip here at all so I am just gently trying to get the back wheel back on speaking terms with the road, all the time doing a 20mph rolling burn out.

The thing stayed up, and I drove like I was driving the Exon Valdez all the way home.

New tyres can be a real bugger.
