Weird vibration, possible ABS?

As for the shaking, it would make since i guess if the engine trying to move the rear tire but its locked. But why would the front handle bars shake and not the ass end? Like have wheel hop or something?

As for the clunking, i think its getting worse. I also started a thread most of ya have responded on that about engine popping. Ya well when i make turns i push the clutch in half way through it if am going to fast, then ill just give alittle rev before i let it out again. I did this tonight and the damn thing did that popping thing and just died...My 600 miles is about up its got to go in for the service, ill just tell them everything am learning here Thanks for all your help

Off course we are being ripped off, that what its about living here I suspect i'm not the only one that lose a lot of the pay cheque in tax! Thats before we buy anything.....

Oh if your not happy the bike take it back to the shop and get them to look at it, after thats what you pay your money for!

I can't think of one situation in the last 30 years of riding where I would have benefited from having ABS. My ex had it on her '05 Bandit 650 and even with her hamfisted newbie-style approach to riding back then, she never had the ABS cut in. There's a school of thought that suggests people who have ABS fitted get lazy and end up relying on it, and once on a normal bike will find the brakes easy to lock. Luckily my ex never suffered that fate, but she did lock the front of her Daytona 600 within 2 days of buying it because the brakes were so much sharper than the Bandit's.

To be honest, I'd shy away from any bike that had ABS fitted, as the ones I've tried have extremely spongy brakes and it just adds another unnecessary item to go wrong.

Umh... thats probably IMHO not the best way to get round a corner. clutching it in like that kills the drive. Which isnt really what you want, also you are robbing yourself of the engine braking effect of the SV which is quite useful. Better to throttle off and use the back brake a little if yuo've gone into fast IMHO. Also it helps to keep the bike balanced on its suspension if you have a tiny whiff of throttle applied which means the tyres can do a better job of gripping the road. if you cut the power halfway round a corner you might find the bike sits up and wants to run straight on or when the throttle cut off you have weight transfer between the front and rear of teh bike which unloads the suspension, which isnt what you really want.

Give it a try I bet you'll go round the corner faster and you'll feel more in control of the bike.

I had my first-ever ABS-in-earnest event in the car yesterday on the A43. It saved the plonker in an Audi A3 have my Saab embed itself in his driver's door.

Since ti looks like we've answered the question, time to detail

When TWO did their ABS-in-the-damp test, James Whitham could just barely stop a Sprint faster himself than he could with the ABS, and that's from a planned stop where he was fully prepared for braking- he reckoned that in a real-world situation the ABS would be better than him. I bet you money he's better on the brakes than me, so, ABS sounds like a good idea provided it works. ABS doesn't just stop locking up, it avoids underbraking, in an emergency I reckon most people don't use all the available brake for fear of losing the front.

and of course the test wouldn't have been setup to best show any advantage ABS has would it , no I'll grant you on the straight, with a decent road surface, with the bike upright, it could be useful to the experianced rider, however introduce either a bend, rough/bumpy surface or braking for stability with the bike leaned over and it'll do very weird things.

Even in a straight bit of road, my brother got a brand new F800s the start of the summer, and on moderatly bumpy roads it has the habit of disengaging the brakes when a constant pressure is applied (no brakes!), you have to release the lever and grab it again quick, Mr BMW just says it's how the system works, he's said he won't get an ABS equipent bike ever again, and he's the one previously bestowing it's virtues.
On cars yeah OK I can see some point, leaning bikes, no way, as useful at linked brakes, but that's another question.

I laughed at him when he ordered it (and the extra 8 weeks he had to wait) as it's one of those things that sounds good, but introduces more problems than it solves.

Dumb is wasting good money on something because you believe the sales patter and it "sounds like a good idea"
