If I was keeping the SV long term I think I'd almost definitley do it, but for a last summer of riding on it seems a bit of a waste.

Dan. That's Dan. Twice in one week that is that someone's got my name wrong.

Are you after the throttle body sync or the SDTV flap sync with a drill bit thing? I've done both on my SVS, and it's a piece of piddle compared with the four carbs on my ZX7R.

Makes sense. I'd do it, but then I'd fit 'em myself and expect to recover most of the cost by removing and reselling them when I sell the bike, so the economics are very different. I think you're on the right track tbh.

Easily done, fiddly the first time getting the damn pipes on the thing but not hard to do. Just have to find my balancy-pipey thing and Bob's your uncle.

I still havent attempted my valve clearances yet - gonna have another look at the manual and work out whether I dare.

Dynobike offered to do the clearance/shims if needed and throttle valve synch for £120 plus £30 for a before and after dyno run to see if there was anything which could be done to it without fitting a PC

Checking valve clearances is easy enough. Changing shims is a bit more involved... But SVs don't often need it. Mine's had its cams changed and done about 35000 miles and it's still on the original shims. Changing cams and changing shims are actually a very similiar procedure for the SV

At a guess I'd say you'd have to set the clearances if you fit different cams as I doubt the 0 lift part of the cams will be exactly the same on each camshaft.
