If having the clutch correctly adjusted doesn't make any difference, check the push rod in the clutch- I had a problem with mine that gradually went worse until the clutch finally stopped working, checked it and the push rod was snapped cleanly in two! You can get a manual (I'd download the owners manual and the other one as well) on the faq section of the main site.

I'm of the understanding (correct me anyone if I'm wrong) that the SV can be a pig to get into neutral if the oil is over topped up. When I got mine (albeit a pointy) it was generously topped up and I had difficulty with neutral. Got it serviced, fresh oil and slightly less of it and it was easy to get into neutral.
