As far as oil filter wiring, the ACU regs state that it must be properly secured, not necessarily using lock wire. I suppose it comes down to the particular club or even scrutineer as to the interpretation but I think this has been checked on almost every scrutineering session I've been to.

I like the clip/wire method as its nice clean and simple so I'll go with that.

Interestingly there is no mention at all of wiring brake caliper bolts etc, I think it only mentions the oil filler cap and drain plug.

if you have the holes drilled in your brake bolts then you have 2 have them wired but if thers no holes in them then you dont have 2 have them done!

From an ACU regs position thats not true. There is no requirement to drill or wire caliper bolts. All depends how much of a jobsworth the scrute is.

Personally I wire mine simply because I couldnt be arsed threadlocking them every time I switched wheels.

There's actually more information in the regs about body jewellery than there is about brakes . bizarre.

I've drilled my caliper bolts then I have two R clips linked together with lockwire, one clip through each bolt then just pull them out at wheel change time.

Lockwiring caliper bolts is a Isle of man and other proper road racing thing.

NO requirement for it on track based racing

When I say that's all I do, I mean that's all I do to the oil filter. Obviously sump plug and oil filler cap etc are lockwired as well. Never lockwired caliper bolts either, which is just as well given the amount of times I change wheels over a weekend when weather is changeable.
