my bike is so loud I needed to put the baffels back in, and then ride with ear plugs in...
still passed the MOT as the inspector said "A noisy exhaust never killed anyone"

Thats the greatest myth ever perpetuated on bike forums.

You won't really know unless you ride one for yourself, theres only so much people can tell you.

I have a R6 and i find it's a lot more easy to live with for everyday riding and far better for a thrash. But then i have a smooth Yamaha, not a lumpy Kawasaki.

though not asked of me... but having the same bike....

you do have to rev it somewhat for it to come alive...
it has less grunt than the 636 I use to own had, but rides about a million times better...
if you keep the revs up the bike is like a missile, anything above 8000 rpm and the bike will be happy as larry, if it goes too far under then you best drop down a gear or two..
It will do into the 80's to the rev limiter in 1st. and not looking at the tacho after that...
best modification you could do to a SS600 is change the gearing... they always try and eeek out the last few mph out of the bikes that you or I are unlikely to see on the road (well.. Im lying slightly here...) so if you drop a cog on the front and go two up ont he bike, it'll pull harder in all gears, but you loose top end... speedo then becomes inaccurrate as its taken from the front sprocket.

to sum up, you need to rev it to get the best out of it, but theres enough grunt in it for dozing around... once you put your silly hat on, it takes off, and handles brilliantly, good brakes and susspension to boot as standard, chuck an akrapovic on it and it sounds ace, but you lose some of that low down grunt with an aftermarket can, but you can feel where it all goes to at the top end of the rev range !

That sounds very very fast
Thanks for the mini review of your bike.

I think really I may be looking at things that for me make no sense! i.e. I talk about day to day useability and when do i use my bike? Dry Weekends, occasional evenings and holidays.....
I miss the excitement that i remember getting from my RG250 about 10 years ago. Although less powerful than my SV I think it was the way the power was delevered in a big rush all at once....

You my good man need a remap. I've got bags of midrange from my R6 now and its smooth as silk.
