No it builds it's own pressure in the final stage once it's bottled. Depending on what you beer you make (I think) if you add sugar it further ferments it in the bottle and adds the fizz, hence why old lemonade bottles are ok.

I'm going to the homebrew shop.

I quite fancy the idea of doing this. I've been getting a taste for bitter recently, after a rather heavy weekend in november I've gone from Guinness to cider to bitter.
I might have a few goes at this, I guess it takes a while to get the knack?

I've only done two Sean and as long as you sterilise the kit properly it's a sinch. Bottling can be tricky if you add sugar but as they say, slowly slowly catchey monkey.

There are different degrees of ease too. I'm doing the first stage of it where you get a tin of goo and the yeast and stuff. All you need is water and sugar, oh and the starter kit.

The only thing is the wait! Once it's done though you get a real sense of acheivement. (I don't achieve a lot!)

There is nothing greater than sitting down to your own homebrew. Unless its rank, like the second lot I made

I got rid of the equipment stuff while I moved house various times, but its certainly cheaper in the long run than buying from't supermark't

The problem is, as mentioned above, finding containers you can depend on, and having the patience (and warm storage) for it.

I might be able to get away with a bucket in my office actually, down by the radiator.....

Chin chin.

They might just notice the smell, but you could blame the dog in the stripy jumper!
