sounds like your swingarm has stretched then...
or you might have a chain that's too short ![]()

joking, hence the
![]() your swingarm will be fine, but seriously, if you're a tooth down on the back and there's no way to adjust the correct tension then it sounds like it's too short ![]()

sorry to pu tthe downers on you - my mate had a standard gsx1100 efi and when he started running it on th estrip and added nitrous the ewxtra power strectched his swinger by 6" or so. seriously though the chain can only be too short especially with one tooth off the back.

OK I would guess that the chain is too short. The S and N versions of the SV use a 108 and 110 link chain respectivly if I remember, so this has come up before.
If you have the bike on it's side stand in neutral, and there's 5mm of free play take it very seriously. It is not Ok to ride this for a few hundred miles till it beds in. The chain will be stretched extreemely tight when the suspension compresses. The chain can then snap and at best that leaves you stranded. At worst it leaves you off and injured, potentially badly. Please count the links, check the box, and contact the people that sold it to you. Best Regards Jambo

![]() ![]() ![]() The internet, ain't it great Listen to the Jambo, he talks sense he does. As soon as your chain stretches at all from new, you should start considering it's replacement, they do not bed in. Last edited by Stu; 02-06-08 at 02:58 PM. |

Well I`m talking from experience , before I traded the last bike in I had been sent a chain that was too short and had just the same thing . There was very little play in the chain and I took it very very easy with it . After a week there was a decent amount of stretch in the chain to relax about it all . Admittedly I wouldn`t recommend running like this at all , as I traded the bike in 2 weeks later , but felt very guilty about it all .
