Been trying to get Linux working for years, each release it gets a little bit better. Haven't tried for a while, maybe it's time again.

(My laptop is called Hex and our desktop is called Hal btw)

Will it just down load them when I restart or something, I don't seem to have an apply button!

Oh yes I do...

We named our servers, Agincourt, Waterloo, Nile, Trafalgar. Unfortunately our French lords and masters spotted a trend and made us comply with a naming policy

Er what is the cube (when in relation to computers as opposed to geometry) and what does it do?

As for who my internet boyfriend is, well it is (Censored by MI6) and he is really cool.

OK folks, I nearly have it, but now my DVD player does not work and I do not know how to make it play. Do you lovely people have any ideas.

I originally put this computer together purely as an entertainment system, so I would like to be able to play music and watch movies on it again.

I feel a bit mean to keep on badgering the same folks, but you have been very god so far.

ubuntuforums.org - The guys there are brilliant, many are UK based and there are hundreds of tutorials and how-to's
The Terminal - if you can get used to it, it'll be your best friend, e.g.
instead of going into add/remove programs to install Firefox, you can go into the terminal and do:
'sudo apt-get install firefox'
This will automatically install the latest version of the software you want and handle any dependencies.
If you want an entertainment PC then Mythbuntu might be a good bet (you can install the MythTV compnents on top of Ubuntu).

My computer's names are poor:
Dave_Desktop - Ubuntu
eeepc_Dave - Xandros
Mary_Laptop - Win XP
Sarah_Laptop - Win XP
paving_slab (thats actually a nickname) - Win 98 (work)
