The spark plugs themselves I wouldn't have thought would be the problem assuming the bike was has been serviced in the past 10 months?

Water in the front plug is common, as mentioned above, but that would make it run on one cylinder so it should still at least start.
The battery appeared to be fine and its fairly new along with the reg rectifier. I tried it around 15-20 times before I gave up as I was running late for work, the battery had not drained at that point.

Another interesting observation...when I parked it up at night, the steering turned to one side really easily as if it was loose! My wires had been cut a while a go so they have been taped together, but I suspect the tape might be wearing especially as it was not professionally done.

From the comments I've had so far: sparks, flooding due to drain, wiring related appear to be the possible causes?

As i'm quite new to biking could you advise where exactly I should try and check and what I should be looking for?

Thanks,
G

Hi,

Finally managed to resolve the problem, it was an issue with the wires. Appears to start and run fine now. Thanks to sibbo for coming over to try and help and thanks for everyone who responded.
