strange this should come up today.....

i done this last night....

some people say there is no point...some say it works (I done the 3 minute DIY Job, NOT that piece of **** thing u have linked too)

I asked about this a while ago (also searched and read up about it)...at the time i decided not to do it as no point it seemed and I had no confidence in doing anything to the bike...

my confidence is now more so...so i thought why not, id rather do it (and see no difference/not harm the bike. than not do it and always wonder....)

now then...i dont feel any major difference myself...it does seem a bit smoother and does SEEM to pull a bit better at top revs in 2nd but as said before i think this could quite possibly be percieved rather than actual.

personally the way i did it is the same way as in the link boo86 has provided above....as i think its the easiest way....
there is also another way at www.sv650.tk, click enter site, click "mods" and there is step by step there but doing it under the pillion seat rasther than the tank...same thing just different place....

so in conclusion....IMO do it the DIY way rather than always wonder (as its not going to harm the bike anyway) but DONT buy that rip off piece of kit your looking at!!

I agree with dappa.
I race mine so my thinking was if I'm dragging down the back strait of Croft. I havn't done mine the other guy has.......... I'll get left behind. Even if I get into tower 1 meter later than him. It's more work I've got to do through the Jimmy Clark esses.
It's only there to retard for noise tests. It does decrase power so get rid of it. FOR FREE

Thanks for all the replies,
I would like to do it but all the bikes pictured are earlier models than my K5.
Is it done the same way?

have a look at the gear possition indicator. Then have a cup of tea and think about it.
If the bike doesn't know it's in 2nd or 3rd how can it retard in them gears. All it knows is it isn't in neutral, 2nd or 3rd. So it assumes it is on 4th or 5th or 6th and runs the best map.
It works like binari. Am I in 1st = 0, am I in 2nd = 0 am I in Nuetral = 0. Therefor I am in 4th or 5th or 6th. The ECU makes the decision to run default ignition map.

Not all this crap again....

Wouldn't waste money buying the product and I wouldn't waste time DIY'ing it either.

The SV650 is only very slightly retarded, there are no gains to be had other than the imaginary butt dyno thinking otherwise. It has been proven and tested so many times, it makes no performance increase!!!

The products (G-Pack, etc...) are aimed at bikes which actual do have a lot of a ignition retard, the problem is the product list lists the SV650 in its fitting guide and everybody reads the hype and product blurb and instantly beleives it will do the same to their SV650. This is utter rubbish, the product description/blurb is aimed at Hayabusa's, GSXR's etc, not a SV650!

Countless tests by proper SV650 tuners have proven it does not work and the people that say it does state the same thing "I fitted it and went for a ride a felt a real difference", this is your imaginary butt dyno telling you you have just increased the power by 10bhp because you fiddled with something!!! Utter rubbish....

Sorry, rant over now and I am climbing back into the straight jacket.
