If its a pointy you may have overlooked the toolbox.

Mind you the contents if it IS there are pretty bad and worth changing if you can, but it does let you know what the manufacturer intended you to have,
What year Sv do you have?

cheers guys. trip to halfords on the weekend me thinks. think cheap ones will suffice for the amount of use they will receive. maybe when i get a place with a garage i will venture for more/better tools and hopefully start doing more with own bike.

Assuming the OEM tools don't fall to pieces, bend, generally melt (which is a big assumption) you can do a fair amount with them in theory at least. From recollection there's stuff in there to take everything off but the front wheel (but in practice you'll need a bodged breaker bar for some, and a torque wrench if you want to put it back together at correct torque). There's a C-spanner for the rear bouncy and a plug wrench thingy as well. Don't think there's an oil filter wrench in there but if you really really can't get that off by hand I guess there's the old screwdriver trick (but if you can't get it off with that you're left with a holed oil filter).

This, right here is important. It changes what you're likely to need, and where it's likely to be hidden.

It should be under the battery, accessed from the left side of the bike (as if you were sitting on it). There's a panel that pops off near the shock.

I now have my scottoiler in there though.

I believe from K4 (or perhaps K5), instead of being under the seat the tool kit was in an extra box accessed from the left hand side of the bike, located just behind the rear shock.

1) Does your bike have this box?
2) Is there anything in it?
