If you wash textiles in the machine , rinse the machine first on a small spin to get rid of any washing powder and detergents , waterpoorf membranes such as Gore-Tex don`t like washing powder , so a rinse and an approved textile wash is best

You could try fill them with bicarbonate of soda and leaving them overnight, works for smelly shoes! Stick a vac in them to get all the powder out
