At this time of year I'd say that was maybe a little optimistic, seasons ending dealers are full of bikes that they cant shift, New SV's are dirt cheap.... its going to knock the bike down in price...

As for getting wasted by cars. Can I be brutal. On a motorway or dual carrigeway something like a TVR is going to toast you. My mate had a Griffith it was fast so much torque. I got struggled to keep up with a Porsche 911 on my GSXR I was sleeping and it pulled away from me on a 6th gear roll on on the Motorway. Up till about 140 where I started to catch it again. What sort of spec is a Z4M I bet thats no slouch either.

Sh*t happens, fast in a straight line is boring, if you want more go gear the SV down a little so it picks up better, but as said above it runs out of puff at 125 ish anyway.

If you wanna go faster you need more CC's, I overtook my other half on the the weekend, she had the bike pinned in 6th 120ish on her SV. I went past her in 4th I had another 5000rpm to go before the limiter and I left her for dust...

the SV isnt a fast bike compared to the GSXR, but if learn to get the most out of it you will be able to keep with leave cars behind on twisties.

Can I ask how long you've been riding for ?

I've been riding on the road for just over a year now. I've passed my IAM thing now (yes I know that makes me a twa*t straight away) and it was motorway speeds so the torque thing as you say comes into play. The Z4m has 351bhp I think (its an M3 engined 2 seater coupe).

My mate said when he followed me through the twisties he could carry more speed into a corner but couldn't get near me out of them which from what I understand is fairly standard as bikes tend to be slower in and faster out.

ah see, least there are parts close to me if i need them if I choose an aprilia. I think i'll go and have a look at the weekend, reckon I'll probably decide to keep the SV though. everytime I think of selling it I simply need to fire it up and the noise makes me want to keep it.

yup as sv was more fun and stable and forgiving, 675 isnt hard work but its taken me 6 months and a bikesafe day course to start getting me to bond with her (yes its a her).On a nice warm/hot day the 675 will ahndle great but in the wether weve had lately its stopped play as the tyres on it arent eaxctly wet weather friendly!
Stick with the sv, personally id do a couple of trackdays on it-you should soon be grinning, i will be (at some point in the next year or so) be looking at getting another sv as a "stable mate" for the 675

No not at all, if you get IAM and that kind of skills built into you when you start riding you keep them for life. Nothing wrong with doing IAM.

You'll never keep with something like that on the Motorway at daft speeds on the SV its just not going to happen. Same with the TVR light car, lots of grunt / torque, its going to leave you behind, unless you go for something with a lot more power that is...

I believe so yes, you have 4 contact patches on a car which gives more grip and confidence.

If I were you I'd keep my SV and have some more fun on it. Trackdays etc will build your skills for the road as well. If you want to spend a bit of money on it so you can carry more corner speed etc etc then repspring the front end it should mean you can get more out of SV chassis which IMHO is very good its just let down by the front end.

If you want the Fazer, I'd get a test ride first you might be disappointed...

The SV has had a resprung front and rear and emulators and new tyres. So it handles like a dream and flies round corners at silly speeds. Before it was like an axe now its as precise as a scalpel. It's just straight lines where its lacking now (poor thing) has anyone nitrous'd one?

Cool OK alot of people dont do that and it really is a good mod.

As for Nitrous I expect somebody has done it. But I woudlnt want to I just dont see the point of getting more power out the SV. I think your instinct was right time for a bigger bike perhaps.

I'll go out on my own on it, as out of respect for a pillion i'm always more careful. I'm sure a few corners will have me grinning like a loon. Then if anything takes my fancy on saturday i'll see what deals I can get and then of course discuss them with the org!!
